When it comes to the health and well-being of your pet, it is important that you have access to treatment facilities like an animal hospital in St. Petersburg. Just as it is essential that you go to the doctor when you break an arm or you have the flu, our canine companions need special care and attention when they are unwell. Whether your furry friend needs to see an allergy specialist, needs their teeth cleaned, or requires rehabilitative physical therapy, Tampa Bay K9 Rehab Center (TBK9) and Central Animal Hospital (CAH) are here for you!

Animal Hospital vs. Veterinary Clinic

While these terms are not necessarily regulated, there are general differences between an animal hospital and a veterinary clinic. In terms of human equivalency, imagine it like the difference between a walk-in clinic or your average doctor’s office versus a hospital. The latter has access to a greater spectrum of services and testing capabilities, as well as pharmacies, surgical rehabilitation facilities, and more. Specifically, at TBK9 and CAH, we help patients in St. Petersburg with services like:

  • Laser Therapy
  • Specialized Treatments (Stem Cell Therapy)
  • Orthotics and Cart Fittings
  • Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy
  • Weight Loss Programs

Many of our unique therapy options are what bring clients to our dog hospital in the St. Petersburg area. Certain species of dogs suffer more from certain conditions than others. For example, dachshunds often have back problems and need treatment for hip dysplasia or patella luxation. Larger breeds like German Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers are susceptible to issues such as cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) ruptures and tears, which also may require surgery. Dogs of all breeds are prone to developing arthritis as they age, however they can be treated with therapy like underwater treadmill and swim tank exercises. Other services we provide include hot moist heat therapy, low level laser therapy, therapeutic massage, and chiropractic therapy.

Pharmacy and Specialty Food

An animal hospital, being larger and more stocked with a variety of products and treatment options, also generally has a well-stocked pharmacy and specialty food and treat selection for patients. At TBK9, we offer:

  • Baked Treats
  • Dog Training Treats
  • Wholesome Hearts
  • Pork Hide Bones
  • Porky Puffs
  • Antioxidant Bars
  • Dental Treats

  • Daily Supplement
  • Agility
  • Skin & Coat
  • Pork Hide Bones

The foods and supplements we recommend for your pets are designed to be full of the nutrients and minerals needed for a full, healthy diet while also being free from harmful artificial preservatives and fillers. Just like humans in St. Petersburg, dogs need to closely watch the food they consume in order to prevent the onset of disease and unhealthiness.

Online Food & Pharmacy Services

We also offer an online food store and an online pharmacy service for your convenience.

Veterinary Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner

At TBK9 and Central Animal Hospital, Dr. Brown offers his expertise as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP). As a CCRP, he had to undergo a great deal of studying as well as training to receive his certification from the Canine Rehabilitation Program at the University of Tennessee’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

According to the University of Tennessee’s CCRP documentation, there are less than 25 CCRP’s in the State of Florida. As one of the few in the Central Florida region, Dr. Brown and the rest of the staff at TBK9 and CAH are always ready to assist you and your furry friend. We strive for compassion, care, and excellence in our practice at all times, and we use our experience to help your pet achieve peak health.
